We attended the Marriage Preparation Seminar organised by our church on Sat. We had an enjoyable 3-hour session with Pastor Lawrence. There will be 2 more workshops coming up in Dec and Jan. He shared many things, very practical things and possible issues that we will face in our marriage. And some of these things are what we're experiencing already, especially with the renovation of the house starting... lots of joint decisions to be made, but yet we're 2 different individuals with different preferences...
Marriage is ordained by God. He who created the Heaven and the Earth ordained marriage. This story is beautifully written in Genesis 2:18-24.
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that man
should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. ....
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to
fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the
flesh instead thereof; ....
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my
bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father
and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one
flesh.
Real love is an unconditional commitment to ONE person for your entire life. It's not just about feelings of love. It's about a decision to love and commit to that one person... When you decide to marry this person, you decide that for the rest of your life, you will only love this person, kiss this person, hug this person, make love with this person. No other man or woman shall take that place. This is an unconditional commitment.
