Teacher Agnes, the teacher who massaged Gabby on her first day in infant care; the teacher whom Gabby smiled to when she reached school on the 2nd day; the teacher who would put down whatever she's doing to carry Gabby whenever we get to school in the morning. She could be feeding another baby, but she would stop and take over Gabby from me, talk to her, play with her, kiss her. Gabby loves her!
At some point, I got jealous. My Gabby got jealous when Teacher Agnes carried another baby and not her. My Gabby screamed for Teacher Agnes' attention when she walked past without saying hi to her. My Gabby reached out for Teacher Agnes from my arms when I brought her to school. That was the ultimate incident that got to me. I've never seen her reach out for someone before and I never knew she already knew how to do that. But everyone reminded me how blessed I am to have such a wonderful teacher who dotes on my precious daughter. Because of Teacher Agnes, I was able to leave for work knowing that my Gabby is loved and well taken care of in school. Because of Teacher Agnes, my Gabby enjoys her days in school. Because of Teacher Agnes, I get to see pictures of my Gabby having fun in school. Because of Teacher Agnes, I get updated with my Gabby's progress in school.
So truthfully, even though I was jealous sometimes, I really thank God for Teacher Agnes. And I really appreciate all the love, care and concern that she's showered on our precious one over the last 4 months.
Then, last Friday, she told me that she's leaving the school. Her last day would be 2 September. My heart dropped. I felt really sad. And I know Gabby would be sad too when she doesn't get to see her favourite teacher in school anymore. When we got to school yesterday, Teacher Agnes said that her last day is brought forward and she would be leaving at 10.30am in the morning. Again, my heart dropped. I felt sad for Gabby. I'm sure she's gonna miss Teacher Agnes.
Teacher Agnes wrote in her FB that Gabby woke up just in time before she left. She hugged and kissed Gabby for a long time on her cheeks and Gabby looked at her, puzzled. My sweetie doesn't know that Teacher Agnes won't be in school anymore. I can imagine what's going on in her mind...
Baby, we will keep in touch with Teacher Agnes ok? I hope you would remember this lovely teacher who has taken great care of you when Mommy's at work.
Thank you, Teacher Agnes. Happy Teacher's Day!
