When we say God is good, it’s an understatement. When we 1st started planning for our honeymoon, we wanted to go to Greece or Italy. We were also thinking of New Zealand. But as the wedding preparation progressed, we thought it’d make more financial sense to travel to an Asia destination. Hence, we decided to keep the faraway destinations for our 1st year anniversary.
So, we started searching for a slightly more unusual Asian destination to go to. Calvin was reading an issue of SilkWinds one day and he suggested Cebu. And I thought it was a great idea. It’s not that common a destination and we get to dive! Going to Cebu would also mean being able to visit Noi, Randy & Tricia in Manila!
I’ve been working on the SilkAir account for almost 2 years and Cebu is one of the exotic destinations that they fly to. So I started getting info about Cebu from my nice client. She was such a darling.. She gave me contacts to their agents, gave me general info about Cebu and after a few email correspondences, she said “Hey, do you know we give free air tickets to people who work on our account? We can give you a free ticket to Cebu and we’ll see what we can do for your husband.” So God blessed us with a free ticket and another heavily discounted ticket to Cebu for our honeymoon! Isn’t He great?!
2 Oct… we were about to board the plane when the airport staff asked us to step aside as there are some changes to the seating. He said it with a straight face and we totally didn’t know what to expect. We thought it might be some mistake in the allocation of the seat. So we sat there waiting for them to come back with our boarding pass. A lady staff walked to us and said “we’ve upgraded you to business class and here are your boarding passes.” How great is our God!! We were silently screaming in thanksgiving!!!
Business class is just different from economy class! Seats are of course much much more comfortable, service is a few notches up the scale and food is far from tasting fake and instant. SilkAir planes do not have individual screens behind each seat. If you’re in the economy class, you’d need to rent a DigEplayer. But if you’re in the business class, you’re automatically given a DigEplayer. Calvin and I went ahead and chose different movies to watch. Halfway through our movies, we were “interrupted” by an air stewardess who brought us a very pleasant surprise. She came along with 2 slices of yummy chocolate cake from Cedele, a book and a card. My SilkAir client has so thoughtfully planned this little surprise for us! How sweet of her!!! Thank God for giving us such a beautiful blessed start to our honeymoon! (^__^)
