{In the name of "beauty"}

Most of my friends know how low my threshold for pain is... I'm amazed at the kind of pain that I've gone through in the name of "beauty". I really don't know how I managed to endure those moments... When they said "ai sui mai mia" (read in hokkein), I believe they were speaking from experience. hahaha...

Those were my thoughts as I laid there waiting for Amy to start my eyebrow embroidery. A lot of my friends have had theirs done long time ago. Xifen has been trying to get me to do this since forever... Eversince I became conscious of the lack of hair above my eyes, I've had to draw eyebrows wherever I went, even if it's just going downstairs. I had to bear with having "no" eyebrows when I went swimming or running. I had to "risk" having my eyebrows rubbed off when I perspire. I had to give in to friends who threaten to rub my beautifully drawn eyebrows off. hahaha... So sometime early last month, I decided to conquer the fear and just do it.

Yes... you have to book Amy's time at least 1.5 months ahead! And you need to wait at least 1.5 hours for your turn even when you've got an appointment scheduled!

Hell, it was painful!!! Well, at least for my standard... Xifen didn't think it was painful at all. It felt like electric current running through your eyelids... I have to go back to Amy in mid Oct for a touch-up... that's when the colour will become even more natural, so they say.

So ya.. there you have it. EYEBROWS... visible ones for the mini-min!

{Dim Sum Dollies}

We went to watch Dim Sum Dollies today! This time round, the story revolved around the history of Singapore.

Hossan Leong was really funny... he was Sang Nila Utama, he was Ghandi, he was "ma ta" in shorts, he was a convent girl... whatever he was portraying, he did it as if it was himself... so natural!! haha..

The dollies were fantastic too! Selena Tan, Pam Oei, Emma Yong... I think these ladies have this innate sense of humour... My personal favourite: Pam Oei. Think she's really good!! At the end of the show, she said this, "They say the best view of the show is from the stage" and then she went on to thank the audience for the applause. When she spoke, I can almost feel her passion.

I must say though that the last Dim Sum Dollies was better than this one. Audrey and I had soooo much fun when we watched it abt 2 years ago. Maybe it's because we have a higher expectation of it now. Anyhow, kudos to local talents! It's amazing how they can easi-lee beautiful-lee "slot" in some incredibly recent news into the plot... haha... well, guess only those who have watched it will understand this joke perfect-lee. hahaha

{Love}

Love as God defines it.

1 Corinthians 13
4 Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

6 Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.

7 It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails.

{INSPIRED}

Ah Bra and Grace just came back from a very special holiday, one that most of us wouldn't even think of.

Reading her blog not only inspires every cell in my body, it also puts every one of them to shame. Last night, Ah bra came over and had dinner at our place. She told us more about her plans for Project Happy Feet. It stirred up some strong emotions in me and I thought of Theresa. Theresa's another AMAZING woman that I know. So this mini mind of mine was further inspired after visiting the website of Women Make A Difference.

More than 2 years ago, Theresa and Millie got together and started WMD with some other inspiring women to make a difference in the lives of women and children in Singapore and around the world. I really admire all that they have done in the last 2 years. What seemed like a small project then exploded to make a real powerful difference today.

All these beautiful women around me have taken their own steps, small and big, to impact lives around them and glorify God. I know I've always wanted to make a difference in whatever little way I can. But the little small voice of procrastination never fail to disrupt what I could have done. Today, I want to make a personal commitment to start putting in efforts to make a difference and to glorify God.

Ah Bra, I'm with you on Project Happy Feet. Let's go make many many feet happy! And all you beautiful souls reading this, join us and make a difference. Visit the 2 websites above and find out the ways in which you can contribute.
